While the details of Gretchen's case prevent her from sharing details about her story, it doesn't make the book any less powerful. Instead of being all about her experiences, she shares the experiences of others - making her book more applicable for all women. So many women have had experiences, minor or major, that have been the result of men exerting unwanted power over them - this book helps give advice to get that power back.
Gretchen is careful to note that not every story has a happy ending. For example, while HR is generally the first place those who are being harassed think of, HR is a representative of the company, and the case may not go favorably for the victim, as unfair as it is. That being said, Gretchen's writing is solution-focused; even while she admits that not every story ends well, she encourages women to be emboldened by the progress and experiences of others.
