Fun Freetime: Escape Room Mail

Escape Rooms are kind of a new activity that was quickly growing in popularity. Right now, with Covid quarantines and stay-at-home orders, it can be hard to go to a physical location. Plus, they can tend to be expensive, so while I know they're fun, they aren't something our family has ever done due to the cost.

That's why I was really excited to try Escape Mail. I've done different escape games that are designed for being able to do at home, and we've liked them a lot. It's a good way to bring the problem-solving challenges and the story background together. Even though you can really only use them once, they are worth the cost, compared to going to a physical escape room.

Escape Mail is similar. It's founded by creators of Mobile Escape, a traveling escape room experience with an emphasis on education. They've transitioned to a remote format with Escape Mail. I like it better than digital escape rooms - it's fun to have something tangible, and it was fun for the girls to open up the envelope and get started on the puzzles. Like many escape rooms, it can be a little challenging to get started if you've never done one before, but even for beginners there's enough context to get started.

If you're looking for a unique family activity and you like to solve puzzles, this is a great option!
