Book Nook: Peter Sacco's Anti-Bullying Books

Gummer: The World's Last Toothless Vampire, Peter Sacco's new book, tells the heartwarming story of a bullied foster child who is on a quest to find his mother and gets help from an unlikely source —a toothless vampire! Sacco's second book is geared to adults; Bullying for Adults: Big Fish in a Small Pond, educates adults on types of bullies, what makes one a bully, and how not to become a victim.

I had a chance to read the e-versions of both books, and they are both well-written. The first hits home the message of anti-bullying without being over the top or making it so heavy that it detracts from the story. The second touches on an often-overlooked topic - bullying in adults situations. If you've ever seen behavior in the workplace or adult social setting that just seems off, it may be bullying all grown up, which is just as unacceptable as it is with children. This book would be helpful for any adult to read, to be able to recognize and combat bullying behavior, but it's particularly helpful for managers or those in leadership positions.

Both books can be found at Bullying is for the Birds (where you can also find a very informative book about bullying in seniors for free) or Amazon.com.
