Book Nook: Journey

I recently had to read the beautifully written and illustrated book Journey, based on a true series of events. The book follows a tagged wolf, OR7, as it strays far from its pack. The more it moves into atypical territory, the greater the concern is that something might happen to it. The book uses a young girl, Abby, to help personify the interest that people in the northwest (and all across the country) had in this wolf, moving into territory that historically had wolves, but hadn't for many years.

This was a perfect book for my daughter. She loves wildlife and stories about conservation efforts. It's especially good for her to read about kids who are interested and involved in conservation efforts, because it makes it more accessible to her, giving her ideas for how she can get involved, and showing that it's possible even for kids to make a difference. This book was equally interesting and educational, and I'm glad I got a chance to review it.
