Book Nook: The Christmas Story Pop-Up

It may seem odd to write about a Christmas book in March, but I had a chance to review this several months ago and never got to it. It's still a beautiful book - and the Christmas story is honestly a timeless story that can be told any time of year!

Candlewick Press published a beautiful pop-up version of The Christmas Story. This book tells the story, and then illustrates it with amazingly intricate pop-up paper art. Robert Sabuda has created pop-up books for a variety of stories, and these are not your average kids' pop-up books.

The only downside to this book is that I wouldn't let young kids read it themselves - while they would marvel at it, the cut-outs are too intricate for me to trust them alone! However, my nine-year-old knows how to handle the book appropriately and she enjoyed reading it over and over, amazed at the artistry behind the work.

Robert Sabuda has several other books, some of which are also published by Candlewick Press - dinosaurs, sharks and sea monsters, and mythology. Right now you can get 25% off at Candlewick on all books with code CANDLEWICK. It's a great time to check out the Christmas Story or any other book they have!
