Book Nook: Waking in Time

Typically, books that involve time travel are very much science-fiction. However, I recently had the chance to review Waking in Time by Angie Stanton, a young adult romance/mystery book. The book was inspired by the author's real-life genealogical mystery, that she knew could only be solved by time travel. Since that's impossible, she created her own story.

When Abbi's grandmother dies, she's told to "find the baby" - and has no idea what that means. Shortly after that, she starts her freshman year at her grandma's alma mater - and wakes up her second day decades earlier. Along her travels backwards in time, she meets Will, a young man leaping forwards in time, and a physics professor, who helps her unravel the mystery, even though he knows less about it each time she sees him.

It's an intriguing book that kept me reading it all in one sitting. It has a satisfying ending, both to the mystery of why they travel and the baby that needs to be found, and the romance between Abbi and Will. Fans of mystery or young adult romance novels will enjoy this unique book!
