Book Nook: Where Does a Rainbow Grow?

A while back, I had a chance to review the book Give it a Go, Eat a Rainbow, a book that promotes healthy eating by focusing on eating produce in a variety of colors. I recently had the chance to review the sequel, Where does a Rainbow Grow?

This brightly colored book has Sammy the Bunny take Blake to discover where all the foods come from. I love that the illustrations come from a kid - a 13-year-old talented artist named Alexander Guylay - and are combined with real-life photography and easy-to-understand rhymes by nutrition educator Kathryn Kemp Guylay. By having a child has a main character, the book can resonate more with kids.

As Blake fills his rainbow basket, early childhood and early elementary students are introduced to healthy eating, basic plant identification, and farm-to-table ideas. All of this is done in a fun, child-friendly way for a positive nutrition education experience.
