Book Nook: Play the Man

I haven't read a lot of books on being a man of God, for obvious reasons. However, I recently got a chance to review Play the Man, a book designed to help men fulfill their calling and be the best they can be.

The book encourages men to get out of their comfort zones, beginning with the example of ancient martyr Polycarp, who refused to deny God and bravely withstood the flames that were intended for his execution. That's way more than I could imagine doing!

The website has a sample selection available for download, so you can get an idea of the tone and spirit of the book. It's written to be encouraging, prodding, and convicting, but not heavy-handed. Men reading this book will find it easy to read, with Biblical examples, historical stories, and modern-day anecdotes that make the lessons more real. It's a good book for the men in your life to really challenge themselves to live up to the potential God sees in them.
