Book Nook: The Rough Guide to Germany

I've traveled to Germany several times, but I'm always looking for new ideas for my next trip. So I was excited to get a chance to review a travel guide for Germany from Rough Guides. This guide was extremely comprehensive, but still not too overwhelming. It's up front and detailed, giving readers a good picture of what to expect in each area.

I checked a bunch of places that I've been, especially on our most recent trip. Everything I would have expected to know about those places was there, and the only things that would be different would just be updates from places I haven't been to in many years. Then I had fun checking out places I haven't been but want to go to on our next trip (hopefully next summer). I was especially intrigued with the Saxon Switzerland area, because that's a place I've never been but it's also a place my husband would love to go.

The size of this guide makes it easy to bring along on trips and check out details at night. There are advantages to using a book - no wifi necessary, and sometimes you can discover a lot more things by flipping through pages than when you go directly to a particular attraction's website. Because the book is organized by area, it's easy to discover a lot of nearby attractions.

Since 1982, Rough Guides have sold more than 30 million books and their publication list includes more than 260 travel guides to more than 120 destinations, country and city guides, pocket guides, award-winning website and a new design for the 2018 titles.
