Enriching Education: Fusion Academy

Fusion Academy recently released an announcement that they will open our first campus in Minnesota early next year. We have two events this week to introduce Fusion Academy to the community.

The campus will open in January.

·  Who: Fusion Education Group, an innovator and leader in one-to-one personalized education and social-emotional learning, will open its first campus located in Edina. We’ve been serving families since Fusion was founded in 1989.

·  What’s one-to-one education: Fusion Academy’s approach to learning is grounded in its one-to-one model of one teacher to one student, with different teachers for different classes. Fusion teachers personalize instruction for student strengths, interests, and learning preferences. Schedules are also customized so students take classes at a time of day that works best for them.

·  Who attends Fusion: Middle and high schoolers, including athletes, actors, and students with extracurricular passions can schedule school around their life instead of the other way around. Other students who attend Fusion include gifted or accelerated students, students with mild learning differences such as dyslexia, or those seeking a more personalized learning experience. Here’s a video from our families.

·  Is Fusion licensed and accredited: Yes. Fusion is nationally accredited by Cognia (formerly AdvancED), which includes NCA CASI (North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement), SACS CASI (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement), and NWAC (Northwest Accreditation Commission). ·  Where: Fusion Academy Minneapolis will open for in-person learning at its temporary location at 7550 France Avenue, Suite 130, in Edina in January of 2022. Fusion’s permanent location is expected to open across the street at 7545 France Ave S in the spring of 2022. Interested families can tour a Fusion campus school virtually by calling (952) 219-7996 or learn more here.

Why was Fusion Academy created?

In 1989, Michelle Rose Gilman founded Fusion Academy out of frustration with the status quo. She needed personalized education in her community and began with one campus in Solana Beach, California. Fusion now has more than 60 campuses throughout the United States and has educated thousands of middle and high schoolers. The Minneapolis campus will be its first in Minnesota. The campus will open in a temporary location in January at 7550 France Avenue Suite 130 in Edina.

What sets it apart from other educational options?

We are guided by a fundamental belief in the immense potential within every person. Our mission is to help each student flourish – emotionally, socially, and academically – through positive, mentoring relationships and a personalized education experience.

Our foundation is one-to-one learning. One student to one teacher, with different teachers for every course. Traditional learning sets 25 or more students with one teacher, where students are not always seen, heard and or engaged. The traditional education model doesn’t work for all students and allow them to realize and reach their full potential.

All kinds of middle and high school students enroll at Fusion, including athletes, actors, and students with extracurricular passions can schedule school around their life instead of the other way around. Other students who attend Fusion include gifted or accelerated students, students with mild learning differences such as dyslexia, or those seeking a more personalized learning experience. Here’s a video from our families.

How can families know if Fusion Academy is a good fit for them?

We know the school search can be a very isolating and frustrating process for parents, and we want them to know that they are not alone. We are grateful that so many of our parents have shared their Fusion journey. Families can learn more here.
