Home Gnome surveyed over 1,000 U.S. homeowners about their pet peeves and opinions about their neighborhood and the folks living next door.

Key Insights Frequent tension from home or property maintenance issues is reported by 1 in 10 respondents. The 5 biggest pet peeves are garbage (27.4%), landscaping and lawn care (22.6%), home maintenance (21.9%), noise (19.4%), and pets (16.5%). Over 1/2 of respondents feel their neighbors’ choices are somewhat or mostly increasing their property values. Some people report that they have had to take down a tree or remove bushes (12%), install or move fencing (7.8%), or survey property lines (4%) because of a neighbor.
