Music Minute: Dear Mom

Just in time for Mother’s Day this weekend, top rated and always trending independent artist, DAX, just released his tribute song to his Mom, “Dear Mom.”  The song is 5 years in the making and started as a poem he wrote back in college.  

 

“Dear Mom is a poem of mine that has been in the works for almost 5 years. It initially started as a poem when I first began writing back as a Junior in college in Wichita, Kansas at Newman University. About 8 months ago I finally found a beat that was perfect for it in song form. It took me about 8 months to fully complete it. There was multiple times where I was stuck on what to say because it was such a personal topic and I wanted to make sure that I got it right. In terms of inspiration it came first and foremost from my mother. My relationship with her has always been amazing and the older I get I can see the sacrifices she's had to make. The inspiration then grew to really the thought that every single person who has ever lived has a mother and that they deserve words that properly honor them. No fluff, just pure poetry that billions will be able to listen to and say this accurately describes how they feel about their mother as well. Finally, Mothers in general inspired the poem. I wanted to give them a song that goes full circle and can motivate them through the process of a job they never quit doing. I wanted to show them the light at the end of the tunnel and that the pain and sacrifices they make are worth it. An anthem.”

Dax’s ultimate goal is to take meaningful lyrics and disguise them into his melodies. This is what drives his obsession to put something into the world that will last forever.
