The Salvation Army in the Twin Cities has launched its annual “Coats For Kids” campaign to collect warm weather gear for Twin Cities children in need. Due to the impact of inflation on rising prices for food, gas, rent and utilities, the cost of winter wear is an additional stress for families that continue to struggle with financial pressures again this winter.
The public can help by donating new or gently used coats for children and youth of all ages—as well as winter accessories like hats, mittens, gloves, boots and snow pants. The “Coats For Kids” drive is running now through Saturday, September 30th.
“Struggling families are always having to make tough choices,” said Lt. Colonel E. Randall Polsley, commander of The Salvation Army Northern Division, which includes Minnesota and North Dakota. “They continue to struggle with incomes that are not keeping pace with the rising cost of food and living expenses. We need to help keep kids safe and warm this winter by making sure they all have good coats.”
“Providing a warm coat is one less thing that parents need to worry about,” said Captain Josh Polanco, Twin Cities commander. “No one should be put in a position to choose between paying rent or providing clothing for their family.”
Coats and other winter wear can be dropped off at Salvation Army headquarters in Roseville or at any of their service center locations listed here:
