Music Minute - Matt Schuster: Tell MeTennessee

Warner Music Nashville's fresh new face, Matt Schuster, arrives with his major label debut track, “Tell Me Tennessee,” following the signing announcement earlier this week. Fusing the classic “should-have-been-us” romantic theme to a pulsating blast of heartland rock, the narrative behind “Tell Me Tennessee” is packed with fast-moving imagery and familiar references of a Nashville newcomer pining for a love that moved away and hoping for her return.

Co-written by Schuster with Josh Dorr, Andy Albert and Lalo Guzman, “Tell Me Tennessee” brings listeners a singable lyric over guided by his bold yet effortlessly soulful vocal. Released today with an all-new music video directed by Quinton Cook, Schuster visits beloved Nashville staples like Percy Priest and midtown as he reminisces about a summer romance that refuses to fade, holding onto hope that one that got away is still thinking of him and their shared memories in Tennessee.

“'Tell Me Tennessee” felt like the perfect first song to put out with my new family at Warner Music Nashville because it's as much a love song as it is a song about chasing your dreams,” shares Schuster. “Since moving to Tennessee to pursue music, it's been such a whirlwind, and I think the romantic and nostalgic lyrics help paint the picture of how complicated yet exciting this chapter has been. This song is not only about the one that got away; it's also a song about the significance and hope that Tennessee holds for me.”

After arriving in Music City in late 2022 with a self-built audience over half a million strong and a series of hits that have earned him over 130M streams, Schuster's recent label partnership with Warner Music Nashville marks the arrival of a new star. With a songwriting style that wears its heart on its sleeve, blending the cherished warmth of classic rock with the epic, adrenaline-pumping ambition of modern pop, Schuster brings a fresh sound and style to the Country landscape that is uniquely his own.

The newly-named Nashville Briefing Artist to Watch will spend the rest of 2023 on the road with Ashley Cooke, Kameron Marlowe and Dylan Scott. For tour dates and more information, visit mattschustermusic.com and keep up with him on TikTokInstagram and Facebook.
