Book Nook - Cursed (Morningstar Academy Book One)

 I recently had a chance to see a copy of Cursed (Morningstar Academy). This book has a unique take on angels, heaven, fallen angels, and demons, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

In Cursed, celestial warrior Gladriel kills a demon, a rare occurrence. Its brethren vow to seek revenge, and when Gladriel wants to get back, she is forbidden to do so by the Almighty. She does anyway, getting cast out of heaven and enrolled in Morningstar Academy, whose curriculum teaches how to make the lives of humans miserable.

But then millions of humans suddenly disappear, and Gladriel makes the connection to an ancient prophecy that could destroy humanity and her newfound home.

The book is very well-written. I enjoyed it and couldn't really put it down once I started. Although it's in a fantasy setting, the characters and their motivations are realistic, sometimes showing the complexity of the good-vs-evil dichotomy.

I can't wait to read the rest of the series!
