I had a chance to review a copy of the book. I really like the layout - it's easy to read, the chapters have substance but aren't long, there's opportunity for reflection, and it's easy to pick out the main points. The book is written from a Christian perspective, but in a way that works for families of all faith backgrounds, including those who aren't religious. The bio, introduction, and two Bible verses quoted in the book are the only explicitly religious elements. Everything else in the book not only tackles issues faced by most families, but also does so in a way that is universal.
The topics include using curiosity, conversation, and correction in discipline; making authentic connections with kids; breaking negative generational cycles; and teen-specific topics like middle school.
This book would be a great read for any parent, especially those approaching the pre-teen and teen years.
