Book Nook - The Karma Sequence (Review)

I recently had a chance to review The Karma Sequence by A. O. Wagner, the first in a trilogy, all books are available!

In the book, Dan, a reclusive computer genius and recovering addict, creates a genetic analysis system. But then it begins predicting deaths. After it happens enough that it's clearly not a coincidence, he's forced to grapple with the philosophical and ethical implications. The author's experience with addiction brings a sense of authenticity and depth to that element of the story.

The book begins with an intriguing premise that is really thought-provoking. What would you do if you had the power to be able to predict exactly when people were going to die? It's an interesting read - slightly unsettling, but in the makes-you-think way, not in a really creepy way. If you're interested in speculative fiction that is mostly realistic but with an advanced application of technology, this could be a great read for you.
