Newton was recently honored during her album release party at the Firehouse Inn with a special recognition from the state of North Carolina. She was presented with a North Carolina state flag that flew over the State Capitol, which was given by Representative Jake Johnson on behalf of Governor Josh Stein in recognition of her contributions to entertainment and charitable work in her home state. In addition, Newton received a formal proclamation from Commissioner Hunter Haynes and County Manager Bryan King, officially declaring April 25, 2026, as “Lee Newton Day.”
