Tuesday Time Tidbits: Bathing

Obviously this doesn't work with a tiny newborn, but it works for independent sitters in a toddler tub (one that's more supportive), or older toddlers/primary school children who still need some supervision.

Double up on time in the bathroom. When our daughter is bathing, I spend some time playing with her, and some time either cleaning the bathroom, or getting myself ready (brushing teeth, taking in/out contacts, etc). I still talk to her while I do it, and I make sure that I am never more than one step away (we have a small bathroom). That way, if she slips, I'm there immediately.

She loves baths and will spend over a half hour in them if I let her! This allows me to give her some change of scenery in an enjoyable activity, while still doing other things that need to be done. And I'm still playing with her and interacting with her every few minutes directly, and talking to her throughout her bath, so she is not neglected.

I plan on continuing this multitasking activity until we have our next baby (who will obviously need touch support until old enough to sit alone like our first child).
