Wednesday World Wisdom: Outdoor Protection

Today's topic: alternatives to traditional sunscreen and bug repellent that use fewer chemicals.

First of all, cover up! When the weather is cool, you can prevent a majority of bug bites and sun by wearing long sleeves, pants, and a hat. This also allows you to use bug repellent and sunscreen on minimal skin areas, since you can spray the repellent on your clothes and only need to use sunscreen on your face.

You can also use non-chemical sunscreens and insect repellents. Sunscreen manufacturers include Alba, Caribbean Blue, UV Natural, and others. Natural insect repellents (which usually use essential oils) are made by Buzz Away, Burt's Bees, and others.
