Time Tidbits: Gifts

Every mom knows that gifts for birthdays and holidays will be a time-spender - finding and wrapping gifts - and money-spender. How can you save time when gifts are involved?

First of all, buy ahead. If a great toy is on sale or clearance, buy a few. Then you'll have some on hand for the next few birthday parties (this works well for flexible toys that have a broad appeal, such as Legos). You will still need to consider the recipient of the gift, but if you have a variety of inexpensive gifts on hand, it's cheaper and easier than running to the store for each gift.

Think creatively for wrapping paper. Try free alternatives such as newspaper or butcher paper that your kids color. Or try reusable alternatives such as gift bags (which are incredibly quick to prepare and always look great). We've never bought a gift bag since we've been married, because we keep getting as many as we give out. Both alternatives save time and money.

Buy gifts online if you need a specialty gift. Try eBay free shipping, eBay shipping deals, or freeshippingon.com to find online shipping deals.
