World Wisdom: Driving Tips

Sorry about the missing feature the past few weeks:) It's back for at least a while though!

Today, some quick tips to get the most efficiency out of your fuel:

- Don't idle. If you'll be stopped longer than 30 seconds or so, turn the engine off.
- Chunk your errands - especially in cold weather. A warm engine is more efficient.
- Use cruise control.
- Avoid jack-rabbit starts. Make your stops and starts as gradual as possible (if you see a red light or stop sign ahead, start to coast to slow down).
- Don't carry around extra junk in your car and keep your trunk as empty as possible (exception: winter survival kits are necessary in snowy seasons for safety).
- Drive more slowly. Mpg peaks between 45-55 and drops sharply after 60 mph.
- Keep your car well-maintained: air filters, tire inflation, and other auto parts all affect mpg.
- Use the AC above 45 mph, and open the windows below that point.
