Healthy Habits: Honey

Honey can be used for a wide variety of medicinal uses. For all of these, unprocessed/raw honey is best, but any kind will work.

For minor burns, coat the area with honey and cover with a bandage. Change the dressing each day, reapplying the honey, and be sure to keep an eye out for infection.

For nasal congestion, dissolve a spoon of honey in hot water and inhale the steam (more effective if you cover your head and bowl with a towel to avoid losing the steam).

Honey can be mixed with oatmeal (equal amounts) as a face pack cleanser.

Mix honey with olive oil and spread over hair, then cover with a warm, moist towel for a half an hour to condition it.

A spoonful of honey can help a sore throat and cough.

Using local honey can also aid in reducing spring fever allergies in some people.

And even if it doesn't work for you, honey is sweet and pleasant to use, so it's certinaly not going ot hurt!
