Parenting Pointers: De-Cluttering - Bathroom

Once every few months, throw out what needs to go - clumpy makeup, old toothbrushes, expired medicines, etc. You're supposed to replace the toothbrush every three months, so that makes a good time to do it (soak the toothbrush holder in Listerine or Efferdent to wash it when you replace toothbrushes). If you wear contacts, you should consider replacing or sanitizing the contact container at the same time (cases should be replaced every 3-6 months, and rinsed out every day; they can be washed with warm soapy water and rinsed well to prevent build-up).

Consider using plastic smaller shelves if you have tall cupboards, since bathroom toiletries are small.

Buy a set of inexpensive plastic tumblers to put frequently-used items in. It's better than having them all over the counter (keeps them contained and matching).

Assign each family member an easily-accessible drawer or basket they can use for what they need most frequently.
