Website Spotlight: Mamapedia

I have briefly mentioned this site before, but I wanted to give a little more in-depth description about it as part of Mom Central's blog tour.

Mamapedia is what its name implies: an encyclopedia for moms. The site is still in beta, and has a very simplistic look, but the core features function very well. You can search for a given problem/topic, or you can browse in one of several ways: by age, health, finance, "about me," or house & home.

Mamapedia is the searchable form of the various local Mamasource communities. It is a great way to get input from other moms and to find out how other families handled certain situations without having to worry about asking anyone face-to-face. It is easy to use, with both the browse and search functions.

One point of caution, though: because anyone can provide answers, this should not be used to replace your pediatrician's advice. For health and nutrition information, you should always double-check information using articles written by pediatricians and other health experts, or confirm with your doctor's office.
