Of course everyone knows about the fair. It isn't exactly a cheap or free destination, but if you're considering going, here are some tips to make it a less-expensive day.
- Buy your tickets in advance at Cub Foods stores (available until August 26th) or go on one of the special admission days to save on admission.
- Buy a Blue Ribbon book if you're planning on trying out snacks at the fair. These are a little cheaper in advance at Cub Foods stores too, as are ride tickets.
- Share food. State Fair food is loaded with calories, so it's a healthier option to buy one of each fun thing and split it around the family. It's also much cheaper.
- Bring water. It'll cost you an arm and a leg to buy inside.
- Give your kids a budget. Instead of having to make a decision about each and every ride and activity and shelling out more money each time, give your kids a set amount of money, and when it's gone, it's gone.
