I've posted about this site before, but with all the talk about healthcare plans in the news, it's worth looking into again. Plus, they've updated the website, in a way that really shows a sense of humor - it's worth visiting just to check that out!
Tonic Health is currently available in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Nevada, and New Hampshire. It appears that they are planning to expand to other states in the future, but for now it's only available in those six states. Tonik is definitely designed for younger people. The website has an edgy, bold look to it, and tries to simplify the language of health insurance. The plans are all high-deductible, low-premium plans - perfect for someone with no major health concerns who is just starting out with needing to buy their own insurance. It includes dental and vision coverage, as well as low co-pays for many drugs and for ER care.
Medical insurance is a good thing to have. Many people take the risk and go uninsured, but that provides no protection in case of a serious injury or illness. For generally healthy people, it's a much better bet to get a low-premium high-deductible plan. It makes maintaining health affordable, and offers protection in case of a longer illness or injury. If you don't have insurance and live in one of the listed states, I strongly encourage you to check it out.
