I recently received a copy of The Shandle to review. The Shandle is a durable extra handle with designs on both sides that serves two purposes: to provide a place to raise and lower the toilet lid/seat without actually touching the seat itself, and (for kid-friendly designs) a reminder to wash hands after using the toilet. The product is $6.99, and comes in a wide variety of designs. Not all of them have the washing hands reminder on them, and these designs are appropriate for matching various bathroom decor (green swirls, fish, flowers). It is also available in plain white, at $5.99.
The Shandle claims to stick well, but be easily removable with soap and water. It does stick very well, and comes off with only a little bit of effort. The Shandle is antimicrobial plastic, which means it's treated to slow bacteria growth, but it still should be cleaned when you wipe down the bathroom (and the manufacturer recommendation is to replace every six months).
