Website Spotlight: Infant Nutrition Center

Mead Johnson, makers of Enfamil formula, have launched a new website, Infant Nutrition Center. If you're interested, you can view a webcast of the launch. The site is part of VisualMD, a site that provides a wide variety of videos and information about many different health issues.

I already knew a lot of the information presented here, but one of the most interesting tidbits I picked up was the comparison between a baby's calorie needs and an adult - if an adult needed calories at the same rate as a baby, they would need around 9,000 calories!

I was overall pleased with the site's content. Although it is sponsored by Enfamil, it doesn't play out as an overt advertisement. It incorporates the health benefits of breastfeeding, but more importantly, talks about the overall growth and development of babies, using a 5-minute video clip, and a slide show with the main points in the picture accompanied by longer explanations.

It also provides links to several other relevant websites, including the USDA MyPramid for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, Mayo Clinic infant and toddler health, NIH/NICHHD breastfeeding page, and WHO infant nutrition page.

I was pleased with the amount of pro-breastfeeding information and images included, and feel that this site is a good place to visit for new mothers or those who want a refresher on the health and development of small babies.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Mead Johnson. Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.
