Shopping Savings: Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving, I think, is the most overlooked major holiday. Stores start doing Halloween, and then move right to Christmas. But it's an important holiday - for those who are religious, a nice chance to thank God for all of His blessings. For those who don't take part in a faith, it's a good chance to remember the good things that have happened, or maybe to give thanks to friends and family who have affected their lives.

Right now is a good time to take advantage of some online savings for Thanksgiving-related devotionals, such as coupons for Family Christian Stores. Or get a jump on holiday cards by sending Thanksgiving cards instead of waiting until Christmas. There are great savings at the Kodak Gallery.

If you're hosting a party, save on decorations by using natural materials - twigs, leaves, etc. If you're crafty, combine coupons for JoAnn Fabric or other fabric/craft stores to find inexpensive fall fabric. Use them to decorate plain candles or hem the edges to make your own cloth napkins and table runners. You can also repurpose things you already have. If you live in a cold climate, consider putting out winter-themed decorations that you may already have for Christmas.
