I'm sure you've heard of Make-a-Wish, the foundation that exists to grant wishes for sick children. Well, LeapFish, a website portal (or, in their words, "an evolved search engine that captures the traditional, multi-media and real-time Web, through a single, connected search platform for both searching and sharing content"), has joined up with the Make-a-Wish Foundation to adopt the dream of Jacob, a 4-year-old with Atresia. Atresia is a condition where the esophagus doesn't match up properly to the stomach. tweet-a-cause, a social media fundraising initiative, will give Twitter users the power to help grant his dream to go to Disneyland, one Tweet at a time. LeapFish will donate 5 cents per Tweet to the Make-A-Wish Foundation until $10,000 has been raised and the child and his family can go to Disneyland.
If you have Twitter, this is an incredibly easy way to help out a great cause - at no cost to you. You can read the press release here if you're interested. They currently have 990 tweets - a long way from the 200,000 that are needed (in other words, they're about 5% there, with $49.50 raised). The text of the tweet is found on the website, and it'll only take you a minute to do!
