Consumer Critique: Mandy and Andy Renovating
I was given an opportunity to try a new iPhone book to review, "Mandy and Andy Renovating." I had never tried an iPhone interactive book before. This is the first interactive book based on the Mandy and Andy book series that promotes reading skills. Apparently they've been around for 30 years, although this was my first real experience with them.
At first, I wasn't terribly impressed - it was a book that read to you, with cute little pictures. Then I actually saw the interactive features (sad to say, it was because my toddler discovered them). The book kept my daughter's attention, which says a lot - she has a very short attention span. She definitely had some favorite pages in the story that she would look at over and over! I'm glad I got the chance to try this out - it sure beats what she was doing before when she would wander over to YouTube and find questionable videos.
The interactive book is available at the App Store for $1.99. It comes in English, French, and Chinese, although more languages (and more stories) are in development.
