Fun Freetime: Summer Camp on the Cheap
Do you want to give your kids the camp experience but can't afford to send them away? Try doing a co-op camp with other parents. Each parent takes charge of one day, and then gets the rest of the time off! Make sure that everyone knows the expectations (no TV unless tied to the theme, for example) and is aware of any allergies or medical issues. One example would be to set up a "heroes" day camp. One parent could do a firefighter day, one parent could do a police day, one parent could do a superhero day, etc. Around the World could be another theme, with each parent choosing a country and incorporating games, music, and food from that country.
