I had the chance to watch a pre-release screening of the movie "Life As We Know It," set to be released in theaters this weekend.
The movie has a premise that could play out in a variety of ways. Holly (Katherine Heigl), a caterer with very definite plans, is set up on a date with Messer (Josh Duhamel), who comes across as a total jerk. But they suddenly find themselves in a position that requires them to put aside their differences as they care for the daughter of their mutual best friends.
I originally thought this would just be a light-hearted romantic comedy. But the plot takes some slightly unexpected twists along the way, and although there is a good bit of humor (the first diaper change, the surprise visits by a social worker) the movie isn't just based on the jokes.
I enjoyed the movie. Parts of it were thought-provoking for me, and the ending was satisfying, for lack of anything more descriptive that would give it away.
If you're looking for a girls' night out or a date movie in the next few days, check out "Life As We Know It!"
