Schools need a lot of things to keep running - and sometimes there are unexpected expenses. For example, my daughter goes to preschool at a school that goes up to 8th grade. They recently found out that, due to licensing requirements, they need to put up a fence around part of their playground. This isn't something that was in the planned budget, but now they need to find the money. It's an example of one of the many things that cost schools money, that sometimes people don't think about.
What does your school need? The search engine Bing is sponsoring a contest called "Our School Needs." and they are still accepting submissions. There isn't much time left, though, so if your school has a need that they want to enter, hurry up!
The competition will fulfill the dreams of for schools (one grand prize and three first prize schools) for up to $1 million in prizes and donations. Bing recognizes that many schools rely on donations to enhance their learning environments, and with this contest, teachers and students can use essays, photographs, and videos to show what their school needs the most.
Entries can be submitted until Friday, October 22nd, in one of three categories: k-6, 7-9, and 10-12. The grand prize winner will get $100,000, and each category will have a first prize $50,000 winner. Website visitors will be able to influence the winners by viewing and rating, and later by voting on the 15 finalists.
For more information, you can also view this video for an explanation of how to enter.
"I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Bing and received a DonorsChoose.org giving code and gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate."
