If you have adventurous eaters, or if you want a more "adult" option, try changing up the classic grilled cheese. Here are some great ways to make it different.
Swap out plain white or wheat bread for other kinds, such as artisan breads, foccaccia bread, or homemade.
Change up the cheese from American/cheddar to mozzarella.
Add some meat, such as deli meat, tuna, salmon, bacon, ham, or shredded turkey or chicken.
Change up the spread. Use mayo or Miracle Whip for a little different twist, or add mustard.
Throw in a little bit of sweetness with some jelly, jam, or preserves, or add sliced apples or pears.
