Parenting Pointers: Cyberbullying

Depending on the age of your kids, they may or may not have encountered cyberbullying. Make sure your kids know the best way to deal with cyberbullies - stop, block, and tell. Stop communicating with the bully, block their contact info, and tell an adult. If you find out your kids' been cyberbullied and you know the parent of the other child, try to start a dialogue with them to help resolve the situation. If that doesn't work or you don't know the other parent, go to your school's principal or guidance counselor (or a coach or other responsible adult who knows the bully and bullied) for advice. And be sure your kids know that it's not appropriate to be the bully, even if there's no physical bullying taking place.
