Consumer Critique: Vittorio Grigolo "The Italian Tenor"

I know opera isn't the most popular type of music to listen to, but as a musician and married to a music major, I have voluntary listened to my share. I do prefer the more familiar operas, like Magic Flute, and I do listen to the orchestra more than the singers most of the time. However, I love listening to tenors. I prefer tenor arias over sopranos any day.

Sony Music recently released "The Italian Tenor," an album recorded by Vittorio Grigolo. He looks a lot different than the typical opera singer - he's young and trim (you can see what I mean in this video from Good Morning America. New York Times had a very positive review about his future as well.

He prefers singing music from his culture, which means that the CD contains works by Donizetti, Verdi, and Puccini. The arias by Verdi and Puccini contain some selections that are familiar to even very casual opera listeners, like myself.

If you happen to be an opera fan who prefers tenors, check the CD out!

Disclosure: I received sample tracks from the CD to facilitate my review.
