Website Spotlight: Otrib

Most people know it's important to have plans in place in the event of their death - or have at least expressed some of their wishes to loved ones, such as a spouse or parent. However, in today's digital age, the online persona can sometimes be left hanging. I've known of people who post on various sites who have their profiles taken down; others are left up and maintained by the family; still others just sort of "exist" without being taken care of, but aren't removed.

Otrib.com offers a service to help decide what to do. As part of a BzzAgent campaign I've been asked to share a little bit about the site.

Otrib offers several things. First of all, there's a grief support site - a very useful tool for those who are mourning the loss of a loved one. You can also create a tribute to honor the memory of a loved one. They are also branching out into a Facebook app that lets you name a person to take control of your Facebook page and handle it according to your wishes when you are gone.

It's a little bit eerie to think about, I think, but if you care about what happens to your Facebook page when you're gone, it's worth checking out!
