Consumer Critique: Diane Birch - The Velveteen Age

Last year I reviewed Diane Birch's album, "Bible Belt." She has a new album now, where she sings with "The Phenomenal Handclap Band" on this song and has tracks like "Bring on the Dancing Horses" and "Tarantula." The album was released in December 7th. In this CD, she puts her own "seductive spin" on songs originally sung by The Cure, Joy Division, Siouxsie & the Banshees, and others.

The CD was decent. It isn't my type of music (I never really listened to The Cure or Joy Division before), but you can tell that she is a talented singer. I preferred "Bible Belt" to this one, for the lyrics and for the fact that it's more original music. You can get a taste of the album by going to Diane Birch's news page or checking out iTunes.

Disclosure: I received a CD to facilitate my review.
