I had the chance to review an
Auntie Anne's Baking Kit quite a while ago, and I'm sorry to say it took me forever to use and even longer to post.

The kit is designed to make pretzels and the website includes a few other
recipes as well, such as pizza. I decided to make something completely different and turned it into a King Cake right before Lent. The kit was very easy to use, and I'm sure it would make tasty pretzels as well. Because it makes a nice, soft dough, it could actually be used for a wide variety of things.

To make the king cake pictured, I mixed the dough according to the recipe, then stretched it out, spread softened cream cheese mixed with powdered sugar in the middle, and sort of folded it over. I'm sure other people could do better with the shape, but luckily it tasted much better than it looks!

Also, for the purple sugar, I made my own. Just a quick tip - if you need a certain color sprinkles, you can use a few drops of food coloring and crush it into some sugar to get the desired color. Mine turned out a little gray, but it was the first time I'd tried it.
The kits are available at certain stores nationwide (
click here for list), including select
Auntie Anne's stores and King Sooper's, Kroger, BJ's, and Kmart.
Disclosure: I received an Auntie Anne's Baking Kit to facilitate my review.
