Fun Freetime: Smashed Flower Mat

Did you know that flowers and leaves can make beautiful patterns on cloth? You can use a hammer to smash them into a piece of light cloth (be sure to put cardboard underneath it to protect your work surface; consider doing it outside). The colors will bleed into the fabric. Remove the smashed leaves and flowers, using a toothbrush if necessary. When it dries, decorate the edges with ribbon or fabric to make a pretty place mat.
