I recently had the opportunity to review Dinner is Ready, a cookbook that gives you the tips and recipes you need to cook 30 dinner meals in one day and freeze for the rest of the month. I must admit, when I first heard of people doing this, I was amazed. The amount of organization and prep work seemed overwhelming. But this book breaks everything down and offers a huge variety of tips, such as which materials work best for storing, sequencing your cooking, and what types of recipes freeze well.
There's a great tool that goes along with the books, also, the 30 Meals in One Day software, which acts as a recipe management system. It's easy to use, and you don't have to just use the suggested recipes. You can add your own favorites and it helps you adjust amounts for different sized families, search by ingredient, generate shopping lists, create a freezer inventory, and more.
This freezer cooking plan is also available for sides and lunches, so in three days you could have virtually all of your family's meals cooked! Even if that seems like too much, using the tips and recipes in the book can help you get several freezer meals prepared in little time, which means that if you have a crazy busy schedule later you can just pull out an already-made dinner and heat.
Disclosure: I received the Dinner is Ready software and cookbook to facilitate this review.
