Here are a lot of easy-to-swap foods to help you save calories if you need to lose just a few pounds.

- Instead of a bran muffin, eat bran cereal.
- Instead of fruit juice, have a piece of fruit.
- Use turkey sausage or burgers instead of beef or pork.
- Instead of granola, consider a less-dense cereal like flakes or O's.
- Use fruit on your peanut butter sandwach instead of jelly.
- Use a pita or flatbread instead of a sub roll or pizza crust.
- Use mustard instead of mayo.
- Get grilled chicken instead of fried.
- Instead of a taco, have a taco-themed salad, so there's more lettuce and tomatoes than meat.
- Eat roasted or baked potatoes instead of potatoes mashed with milk or cream.
- Choose veggies and dip instead of crackers or chips with dip.
- Try fruit with whipped cream instead of ice cream with syrup.
