Consumer Critique: The Many Adventures of Pengey Penguin

Where was this book when my brother was growing up? He loved penguins, and loved all stories about penguins. This cute book is such a neat story, too! The Many Adventures of Pengey the Penguin (also available ) is a charming story about a penguin chick, orphaned at birth and saved by his ability to communicate with humans. The book chronicles his adventures as he travels to find Wendy, the one who rescued him from starvation, in New York (his fear of airplanes prevented him from joining her on the flight).

This book isn't geared towards the youngest readers - there are some illustrations, but it's not really a picture book. Instead, it's a 100+ page book divided into short 4-5 page chapters. This makes it the perfect length for introducing chapter books to slightly older readers, either ones who are reading themselves or those who like to be read to. I really enjoyed the book, and my 4-year-old loves the stories as well! She's always eager for the next story when it's time to read together.

Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book as an ebook to facilitate this review.
