Giveaway: World Vision Gift Catalog

Christmas has become a very commercialized holiday in so many ways, and there seems to be a big emphasis from stores on coming in and buying stuff. But it's also a good time to remember those who can't afford to buy stuff - those who can barely afford what they need to survive.

The World Vision Gift Catalog helps provide a great way to support those struggling around the world while still giving a thoughtful gift. The gift catalog provides a way to donate to a specific need in honor of a loved one, and you'll receive a card signifying your gift. Some of the gifts also come with tangible tokens, such as providing a goat for a family and receiving a goat to give as a gift, or you can check the where most needed section, which provides a wide variety of gifts available for a donation. You can also give a gift of apparel from the Given line, where 30% goes to support the charity.

World Vision is a great charity. You can check it out for other options, including sponsoring a child, and the 30-hour famine (which I've participated in several times).

To help raise awareness of this alternative to traditional gift-giving, World Vision is hosting a giveaway. One winner can receive a set of ornaments handmade from reclaimed materials. To enter, leave a comment with one way that you make the holiday season meaningful, no matter which winter holidays you celebrate. Deadline is November 21.

Disclosure: I received a thank you gift from World Vision for writing this post.
