Shopping Savings: Walgreens Prescription Savings Club

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I recently heard that Walgreens was no longer going to accept Express Scripts due to a contract issue between Walgreens and Express Script. So, this affects any customers that previous used Express Scripts and had prescriptions filled at Walgreens, whether they were Tricare members, Medicare Part C or D drug plan recipients, or some employer-sponsored plans. This means Walgreens may no longer be an in-network provider, and prescription costs may go up. Obviously, regular customers are going to be upset at having to spend more, particularly if they had developed a relationship with their Walgreens pharmacist.

Walgreens does have ways to save on prescription medications, though, through the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club. Ten dollars a year will buy a family membership that covers everyone, including spouse, dependents age 22 and younger, and pets (yes, pets get prescriptions too). Not part of a family? Individual price is $5.The Club offers savings on many brand-name drugs and all generic medications, as well as discounts on other health products, like flu shots, pet prescriptions, nebulizers, and supplies for diabetes. There are also bonuses for purchasing Walgreens brand products and photo services.
