Healthy Habits: Avoiding Overeating

There are some easy - and interesting - tricks you can try to eat less. All of them are backed by research, even though some of them sound a little odd.

- Blue is a calming hue; try to work it into your dining room.
- Don't eat with the TV on.
- Use larger utensils, but smaller plats.
- Serve in the kitchen and eat in the dining room; the extra effort will make you think twice about getting seconds.
- Eat spicy foods. The intense tastes often will cause you to eat less.
- Eat slowly. If you're eating with others who eat fast, try to b the last one to start eating, since you're more likely to eat fast when others are too.
