My brother goes scuba diving and snorkeling a lot. He's a recreation major with an adventure tourism minor, and has gone diving in the Bahamas, in lakes in Minnesota, in Australia and New Zealand, and off the East Coast. One thing he's learned is that you definitely need wetsuits (or drysuits) appropriate for the water he's in. The temperature of the water varies greatly based on location - and also by depth. Water that is nice and toasty warm on the surface can be cooler farther below where the sun doesn't shine as brightly.
Bodyglove is a site where you can find the perfect wetsuit - or anything else you might need for water sports, including surfing, wakeboarding, and stand-up-paddling (something I really want to try). The site also has helpful tips about getting started with each sport, and is easy to see the product selection, including a wide range of swimsuits. You can find local dealers based on the product you need as well.
It's winter in Minnesota, and I keep getting jealous of the pictures my brother and his wife are posting of New Zealand. Even though I love winter (and we're having a very mild one here right now), those pictures and this site make me eager to be out on the beach. We can't really surf here, but stand-up-paddling and scuba diving can both happen in Minnesota, and I really want to try both of them this summer.
