Consumer Critique: Organize Now!

I recently had the chance to review two great household helpers, Organize Now!: A Week-by-Week Guide to Simplify Your Space and Your Life and Organize Now! Your Money, Business & Career: A Week-by-Week Guide to Reach Your Goals. I absolutely loved these books. I don't say that about every book I review, but I found these incredibly helpful

The books are designed to break down the monumental task of "organizing" into weekly duties. Some of the weeks include tasks that will really only take an hour at most, such as organizing and cleaning the refrigerator. Other tasks, however, may take all day, or may need to be worked on some each day, such as the garage. For each one, the author, Jennifer Ford Berry, provides a great sequence of how to tackle the task, breaking it down into smaller, more manageable chunks. Then, after the task, she gives easy tips on a monthly, 3-6 month, or yearly basis to keep things organized so it doesn't become total chaos again.

The first book actually has more than 52 weeks in it, because several weeks are very specific to certain events - party, move, pregnancy, and loss, for example. You may never need the pregnancy chapter again, and you may not need to organize after a loss for quite some time, but it's helpful to have the guide there when you need it.

The second book is more specifically finance-oriented. Although there are quite a few chapters on business, it is helpful even if you don't own a formal business. Perhaps you're doing something on the side, and need tips on organizing that, for example. And even if you don't, odds are at least one person in your household works, and you have to deal with money. The book covers topics applicable to everyone - organizing time, career, networking systems, work spaces, and personal finances. Only three weeks are actually dedicated to your own business.

These books would make great gifts for people just starting out as adults, or also great reminders or helpful books if you find yourself drowning in a mess of disorganization.

Disclosure: I received complimentary books to facilitate this review.
